#VAGABONDZLIVE: BEAST IN BLACK - THE BAND’S VERY FIRST PHENOMENAL NIGHT IN RUSSIA

“I have no words to describe how amazing is has been”, is the most frequent words heard by me after the first Beast In Black’s Russian tour.

Nobody could have thought that this guys’ first visit to Russia would be both wild and touching because that Friday night was hard to describe like “the ordinary concert of the ordinary band” because everyone knew - they had never been like others.

Beast In Black is the new sensation on Finnish heavy-metal stage. The band was formed by Finnish guitarist, songwriter and composer Anton Kabanen in 2015. The Beast has performed in Moscow as a part of Russian tour on September 6. It was the band’s first performance in the capital of Russia and grandeur opening of autumn concert season.

Six months before the show:

In the very beginning of 2019 I was thinking about the concerts I would like to visit this year. My choice was Amaranthe, The Rasmus, Children of Bodom, Crashdïet. And some others... one of them has changed the line-up, another one had only Finnish tour, just dreaming in vain. But I knew - these ones must have arrived this year. Yeah, I’m talking about Beast In Black.

One spring day I was surfing the net when saw that one of my favorite bands Beast In Black is coming to Moscow for the first time. My prediction came true. I was really exited to see them.

#BEASTINMOSCOW DAY:

We arrived at RED club later than expected because of road closures. Then went through security and we were in the hall. Fortunately there was no warming up band, so we just had to wait for 90 minutes until the beginning of Beast In Black’s show.

The gig started at 20.30 (without any delays!). I was really impressed how the things started. After long opening melody we’ve seen Beast In Black’s drummer Atte Palokangas who was entering the stage and greeting the fans and listeners. The band started playing the opening track “Cry Out For A Hero” - the killer opening track from the latest album “From Hell With Love”... The powerful bridge to the next song was “Unlimited Sin” - one of the loudest and impressive tracks from the guys’ second album. But of course it’s not really correct to point out some songs from the band’s album. It’s a whole composition, long story that cannot be full of you choose the best tracks. Playing “Ghost In The Rain” was the most touching and bright moment of whole gig. Yannis Papadopoulos - the frontman of the band asked people to help the band with performing this one with turning on torches on the smartphones or using a lighter. Yannis set down next to the drums and started singing. I’m sure that everyone had a goosebumps at this moment...

The first act ended with “From Hell With Love” - the second track from Beast In Black’s second album. They promised to come back to play encore. ”No Surrender” was the first encore song of “From Hell With Love”, but the most long-awaited song for the fans and listeners was “Blind and Frozen” - the single from debut “Berserker” album. It was the song which has made the band famous in their home country and worldwide. Playing “End Of The World” was the concert’s grande finale... Yannis said it would be their last song for the evening. His words made the audience feel sad. It was one of the concerts I didn’t want to be over...

The whole concert has lasted for 1,5 hours. It has truly taken one of the top positions in my own rank. I was really waiting for each and every song because I had been listening to Beast In Black for a long time before, but unfortunately never heard them live. As for the musician I’m sure - visiting concerts is much better than just listening to some band sitting on the sofa at home. A gig is the short piece of time transforming into the whole life. Every gig has its own story which keep inspiring for a long time after.
