#VAGABONDZREVIEW: SANTA CRUZ - CROSSFIRE

This year Santa Cruz doesn't stop to surprise fans and listeners with the new releases that are becoming better and better.

In winter the band released 'Moonchild' single (review available here). It has become the first call for Santa Cruz to get back to the roots of moving and enchanting hard rock, that made the band famous in home country and worldwide.

Santa Cruz - Crossfire (2021)

’Crossfire’ is the second single of Santa Cruz released in 2021. The song name perfectly speaks for itself and I guarantee this one will strongly catch you if you have something to say about Skid Row, Motley Crue or Guns N' Roses. 'Crossfire' is true rock n' roll song that has irresistible party spirit that was always the main feature for Santa Cruz. Yeah, I missed that a lot.

When listening to 'Crossfire' on its release day, the first thought came to my mind was that it reminds me something. It felt definetely like flashback to 2014 and one summer night I was listening to the debut Santa Cruz album. Those day I was fully into 80s hard rock and glam metal stuff and "Screaming For Adrenaline" seemed to be worthy new generation of Skid Row or Guns N' Roses. The best thing was that the band was 80s-inspired, there was something absolutely new for me and mainly because of shred guitar elements across songs, not just copying other bands' style.

But now should back to 'Crossfire'. Personally, the new song structure reminds ‘Nothing Compares To You’ from 'Screaming For Adrenaline' a lot. To think that, 'Crossfire' sounds just like it was pulled from that album to be released now. It would definetely take a good place before 'Aiming High' for instance thank to its enourmous energy.

Never mind there aren’t double guitar solos, it's always noteworthy to mention impressive shred solo techniques that started dominating in Santa Cruz music again; those I think would never stop amaze me and give great motivation as for a guitar player. In 'Crossfire' we hear even more solo guitar parts comparing to 'Moonchild', and they give us hope to hear even more capturing and complex tunes in upcoming album that is planned to be released in 2021.
